The Adirondack Lakes Center for the Arts is located on Route 28 in Blue Mountain Lake. It is an easy drive from the Lake George area and offers a wide array of programs, workshops and gallery events throughout the summer. Here's a sample of what they'll be offering this summer:
Forever Wild: We're Back! will be held on Friday, June 4 and Saturday, June 5, at 8:00 p.m. each night. This "motley troupe satirizes life in the North Country." Their material is written and directed by members of the regional community. Cost is $10-$15, and reservations are needed for this always sold-out show!
Early Music Concert at Blue Mountain Center will be held on Sunday, July 4, at 8:00 p.m. * The faculty of the Early Music Workshop will perform a collection of beautiful and challenging pieces on various instruments from their historical collection. Cost is $10-$15 and ALCA suggests calling ahead for directions to the concert site.
The Grande Romanza will be held on Friday, July 23, at 8:00 p.m. Stefano and Nina Tanchiette, the American Tenor and Soprano duo, will perform musical scenes of love and passion from Broadway, Operetta and Opera. "The performance consists of a fully staged, choreographed and costumed hour of duets and solos from Rodgers & Hammerstein to Puccini to Bizet", says ACLA. Cost is $10-$15.
The Corner Store Dance Company will perform on Wednesday, August 4, at 7:30 p.m. This is a family dance concert. "The Corner Store Dance Company is a troupe of five men and women who dance, sing, act and play a variety of musical instruments in a lively, humorous revue that present modern dance to people of all ages. Improvised segments expose children to the idea of creative alternatives to conventional structures. Audience suggestions allow children the opportunity to see their ideas become part of the performance", says ACLA. A workshop for children aged 4 - 7 will precede the show. Cost for the performance is $10-15, $5 for children under twelve. Cost for the workshop is $5.
