ADHD Resources Online

I've been exploring the Internet this week for more ADHD information and I wanted to share some of the things I've found. One of the most exciting findings is a search engine, ADDResource, just for ADHD topics. It covers everything from news to fun. It can be found at http://www.addresource.com/. I found another interesting site called Afraid to Ask that has the "Connors Parent Test" for ADHD. I answered the questions for my youngest daughter and it told me her score was "abnormal" and she might have "ADHD or another problem" - imagine that! (If you've read any of my previous articles about Abigail, you'll know what I mean. The link is http://www.afraidtoask.com/ADHD/index.ht... Remember, an online test cannot diagnose ADHD, but it can give you an idea as to whether or not to seek a diagnosis from a medical professional. Actually, I took an online test and scored incredibly high on the likelihood of having ADHD - the test turned out to be right in my case, but I may not have had the courage to be diagnosed had I not had affirmation from the test to begin with. The Afraid to Ask site also has a bulletin board and background information about ADHD. Another resource I found was the Moms of ADHD Kids newsletter. This is apparently a new resource and the home page at http://communities.msn.com/TheADHDInfoCe... gives a good bit of advice about how to help your child in school. You may want to subscribe to the monthly newsletter if you like what you see at the site. There are a number of Yahoo! Clubs devoted to ADHD. There are clubs for Adults with ADHD, clubs for kids and teens and clubs for parents. Go to http://clubs.yahoo.com/clubs/ and type in "ADHD" in the search box to bring up the list of clubs available.

If you want more in-depth information, you may want to check out The Complete ADD/ADHD Bookstore at http://www.add411.com/. They boast of having over 100 books about ADHD - including books for parents, teachers, and clinicians. It looks like most of their links go to Amazon, but at least they've organized the books in one place for you and you can see what is available. I know I have some friends who are teachers who ask me for advice about dealing with their ADHD students. I found a wonderful site called ADD in School at http://www.addinschool.com/highschool.htm that may help teachers. This site can also help parents suggest to their children's teachers some things that could help children with ADHD accomplish their goals in school.
