Get someone to help you set up a simple system of organization for everyday things - bill paying, checklists, etc. It may not work perfectly all the time, but if it is in place, you have a better chance of using it. 7. Use a coach. This can be a paid ADD Coach or you can get a friend or spouse to help you either on a daily or weekly basis, or for specific projects to help keep you on track. 8. Find a support group. Sometimes talking with others in the same boat as you and finding out how they cope with some of the same issues will help you to deal with your own issues. 9. Realize you're not a bad mother. Everyone gets frustrated sometimes, everyone loses patience sometimes. If you are really having a hard time with being an ADD Mom, then get help from a behavior therapist or other professional. But do realize that ADD Moms can be excellent mothers even if we're a little impatient sometimes. ADD Moms can, to an extent, "have it all." We just have to try a little harder and plan a little better to be the best mom, cook, wife, housekeeper, taxi, etc. Good luck being a great ADD Mom. After all, it is usually Mom who is responsible for making sure the household runs smoothly - whether that's clean up or making sure the kids get to the dentist. Even these basic tasks can be a challenge for the ADD Mom. It doesn't seem to help that ADD can affect us more at some times than others - and there's no good predictor of when you'll be able to handle things and when you can't. This makes our challenges as ADD moms even greater. I have difficulty at times doing the basic tasks that are required in a household - cleaning, cooking, making sure the kids are at their different activities and appointments, making sure the bills get paid, plus working and being a wife. These tasks are difficult for a Mom without ADD. With ADD, keeping up with these things can be nearly impossible!
