My father was a dancer and one of the lines from an old tap dancer's song ran...

"It's in the way I tip my hat!"
Hey, that man had style! If you want to become confident at Art, treat yourself with style! Think about the whole situation from the point of view of how proud you are of what you do. Don't ask others for approval! ! Just plain have style.

How do we develop a confident style?

  • If you have a pin board, make it into your art gallery. Rotate the drawings regularly and take personal pride in the way you set it up.
  • Make cards of your work and give them as gifts. People love receiving hand-made gifts that have taken time and thought.
  • Make eCards and send them to family and friends.
  • Keep a journal and regard it with pride.
  • Have your artwork made up on to T-Shirts.

You probably have lots of ideas about how to show you have pride in your work. You don't need the comments of others to give you approval or permission. If you would like to share these ideas, use the discussion boards below. It is a special place set aside for you to show others your work. It is fun and you will receive constructive feedback.

Sharing your artwork is fun and informative. If you have the right attitude, people will be attracted to you. They will ask you all about your work and ask how you did it.

By having the attitude I have described above, you will be ready when that happens. You won't be discouraged by the few, who for some reason of their own, might want to put you down. If put-downs happen to you in the classroom - well - by then you should have developed soooooo much confidence that it just won't matter. Use this space to practice talking about Art. After a while, you will become well practiced in Artistic Conversation.

No matter what happens NEVER STOP DRAWING!
Drawing For Dummies, like all of the "Dummy" series of books, is a very straightforward, instructional drawing book. It is designed for people who want to begin at the beginning and work their way through structured learning exercises.
