Lorikeet!

© Jo Murphy

I saw a lorikeet
Tweet, tweet, tweet
I saw a lorikeet
it was sweet.
Sitting in a tree
and it looked neat!
In a mural out at Birkdale
Big
I drew a drawing
from a picture you see
Made it up in tiles
and then sat it in a tree
Brightly coloured artwork
that looks bold and pretty

I am lucky to be working at Birkdale.

Big

Hey kids I have been out at the beach working on the tile mural again. This time I actually drew the picture first and then had it made into a tile. I wanted the creatures to look really -

real.
It was fun chipping around the edges. I had to make sure the tiles were chopped up - but - not too much - or the pictures might be lost!

Let's not have the critters disappear after all of that.

Kids - have you been drawing animals lately? If so don't forget to post them to me and I will put them online for you. (Always send images in .jpg format.) But do write and ask me for help if it gets confusing.

Here are some links to websites that might help you get started.

Enchanted Learning Here you will find simple line drawings that tell you exactly where and how to colour your animals. There is a search engine to help you find the creature you are looking for. Although you can print out the page and colour - why not copy the picture using the shapes as guides? This helps us to become much better at drawing.

Webshots. Webshots is a photography community. People enter their photos as an on-line storage system. Woww! Imagine having that many pictures in one place at one time. It has a search engine too. You can locate examples of the animal you want to draw. Don't forget to start with the shapes first.

Neo Pets. Now this site is different! It has imaginary pets for you to draw. Look at the drawing lessons first. Copy the style and then VIOLA! Create a neopet of your very, very own. This is a great way to get your imagination really humming! Kids if you draw something please post it for others to see? Don't be shy. There are lots of other activities on Neopets for you to explore as well. Take the time to really cruise around and try activities out. Write and tell me if you find something fun to do.
