It would also suit the intimacy or the purpose well. However if the family have decided that for Christmas they would like to raise funds from the neighbors so that all kids in the district can give a gift to the poor - then there will be considerable work and planning to do. Be clear about your purpose - maybe parents just want to get together at the local school and have a one day event. They could plan in the morning, set up after morning tea and put the play on in the afternoon. By the end of the day it would be all packed up and gone! (Except for the photos and the videos of course.) So decide from the outset - is it to be a big day or something simple and stress free?

It can be a very valuable exercise to team kids when assigning roles and responsibilities. Try to team a reliable kid with one who is only just growing in a sense of responsibility. The benefits of this kind of coupling can be far reaching. How about giving the family clown a more serious role so that he or she develops a sense of responsibility. Once a young rogue learns how to bask in the glory of leadership sucess as well as being the one who can make the whole family laugh you never know where the benefits might end. Whole family projects are often cited as a context which often affords the parents an opportunity to see their child in a different light. Role playing (which after all is what all acting is about) is a great way for kids to enter into family issues from another's perspective and to see some things from other people's view points and so you may find that you will learn a lot about the personal development of children and teenagers through the experience.
