Getting Our Art Online

© Jo Murphy

The hardest part of doing art online for kids is uploading pictures to share with others and working out how to be happily included in discussion board conversations.

So lets start with a few instructions!
Last month we played some fun games thinking up words and drawing them.
  • Did you fill a few pages of your journal?
  • Did you go to your Visual Journal and develop one even further? (This means draw it again even bigger and more carefully into the bigger book and colour it with lots and lots of energy!)
  • Do you have one you are really proud of?
  • And - would you like to show us?
  • This is the time when you may need to ask your helper to asist you - at least for the first one.
  • You will need to scan the picture or take a digital photo of it.
  • When you have done this, get your helper (don't forget to ask politely) to send it to me
  • It should be in a .jpg format.
  • From there I will upload it for you.
  • Unless of course your helper has a website and is perfectly capable of doing it him or herself!

So far so good!
I will post your picture for you and we can talk online. I will help you out to start with by asking you questions and making comments, so that you can think of something to say. But never be too shy to say what you are thinking, so long as it isn't hurtful to any body!
Speaking of hurting anybody! Here is an article I have written especially for little kids just like you so that you know how to go about talking with others online.
Action Kid's Netiquette To feel comfortable about learning online, kids have to feel safe. Doing art is about having fun and making friends, so lets talk about what Rools when sharing online!
Now if we can get that far this month as a group, we have done well!
Congratulate yourself already!
Next month we will talk about some small ways to use this kind of art in fantastic projects! And if we get lots and lots of images posted - I may even have a very special surprise.

So let's see how this month shapes up. Look forward to talking to you ....
ON THE BOARDS

I guess some of you helping the lil' ones are Home Schoolers? If so this course might be for you?
