Tacoma EM10CEIt's fascinating how, after hundreds of years, there is still much room for improvement in guitar design as far as sound quality and comfort. Case in point, I recently took some time to play through my local music store's selection of guitars and was surprised at what happened. I fell in love. The object of my affection? Tacoma's EM10CE. The craftsmanship is immediately noticeable in these simple but beautiful guitars, as is the trademarked Tone Shaped Bridge and the thin body. Being of a smaller frame, I was naturally drawn to the thin body but concerned about sound quality. To my delight, it gave me a deep, rich bottom end with excellent sustaining midrange and treble, and it performed perfectly whether fingerpicking, flatpicking, or strumming. The Rosewood fingerboard, thin neck, and cutout body were very comfortable to play. I didn't want to put it down! I spoke with John Hawkins of Tacoma Guitars, and he explained that what makes their guitars sound different is their exclusive Voiced Support Bracing. I am very impressed with Tacoma's innovative ability to maximize volume and tone in their instruments. To read more about VS Bracing, visit: Tacoma Guitars online. Laurence Juber contributed to the development of this series which presently consists of three guitars, the latest being the full-depth EM9, with two more models to be introduced in Nashville this July. Prices in the EM Series start at $799. So next time you're at the music store, try out a Tacoma EM10CE and experience this beautiful guitar for yourself.
