December 8, 1999 The European Commission launched "eEurope - An Information Society for All", a political initiative to ensure the benefits of the Information Society are within reach of all Europeans. The initiative focuses on ten priority areas, including cheaper Internet access, accelerating e-commerce, healthcare and government online, and e-participation for people with disabilities.
