The Complete Viewer's Guide to the 75th Annual Academy Awards

go forward with any plans for 75th anniversary celebrations, as they should.

As usual, in amongst the regular presentation of Oscars, will be presentations of clips from each of the five films nominated for Best Picture, as well as performances of the five nominated songs for Best Music - Original Song. The majority of the original artists are slated to perform their nominated songs on the show. One notable no-show will be Eminem, who has declined the invitation to perform his nominated "Lose Yourself" from 8 MILE, and no replacement performer has been announced as of this morning. Committed so far to perform their nominated songs:

U2 performing "The Hands That Built America" from GANGS OF NEW YORK

Paul Simon performing "Father and Daughter" from THE WILD THORNBERRYS MOVIE

Catherine Zeta-Jones and Queen Latifah performing "I Move On" from CHICAGO (both are Supporting Actress Oscar nominees, AND Zeta-Jones is two weeks from her due date, so talk about a performance that should be!)

Lila Downs and Caetano Veloso performing "Burn It Blue" from FRIDA

One thing's for sure, even without Eminem, there will a great and diverse group of musical talent performing on this year's show.

The official line-up of announced scheduled presenters include the following (Will Smith was originally scheduled to be a presenter, but declined to attend because of the situation in Iraq) ... but the following are scheduled to present: Denzel Washington, Julianne Moore, Jennifer Lopez, Halle Berry, Salma Hayek, Jennifer Connelly, Renee Zellweger, Kate Hudson, Cameron Diaz, Dustin Hoffman, John Travolta, Susan Sarandon, Cate Blanchett, Meg Ryan, Colin Farrell, Jennifer Garner, Jim Carrey, Michael Douglas, Harrison Ford, Ben Affleck, Richard Gere, Julia Roberts, and Meryl Streep.

Besides the changes already announced in the Oscar telecast and pre-show, with no red carpet arrivals this year, another Oscar tradition has also been canceled. The traditional Barbara Walters Show, which always precedes the Oscars at 6 PM Central time, has been postponed indefinitely because ABC figures it will most likely be providing news coverage. The Barbara Walters show was to have interviews with Oscar nominees Nicolas Cage, Renee Zellweger, and Julianne Moore. This will be the first time in 22 years that the Barbara Walters Show has not preceded the Oscars. It will most likely air at a later date.
