27 Days Till Oscar 75! Precursors and Predictions

Feb 24, 2003 - © Jason O'Brien

all in for Chicago.

Best Original Screenplay is looking pretty strong for Talk To Her, mostly because Far From Heaven is very quickly fading from view. Best Adapted Screenplay still looks to be in the court for Adaptation, particularly since it will likely be the only category they will end up honoring that wonderful film.

Some other categories ... Road to Perdition is pretty solidly in the front seat for the Cinematography Oscar, particularly after Hall's honor at the ASC this past week. Chicago is looking good for Costumes, U2 is still the clear favorite for Best Song for "The Hands That Built America", and Best Original Score is looking better and better for Philip Glass and his score to The Hours.

Of course, I'll have my usual in-depth predictions in every category soon ... but for now, the countdown towards Oscar 75 continues, as the preparations continue for the biggest film night of the year. I'll have another part in my series chronicling the Oscar experience of Lexi Alexander and her crew with the Oscar nominated short film, Johnny Flynton, in just a couple of weeks, as we find out their experience attending the upcoming Nominees Luncheon, and of course more precursor news and my long awaited, detailed predictions in every category.
