Nicole Kidman and Billy Bob Thornton are looking real good for Oscar consideration, as they both received double nominations for different films, and I think the Best Actress competition is really coming down to Sissy Spacek and Nicole Kidman this year. If Thornton is noticed, it will most likely be for Monsters Ball though, as he is getting much higher notices for that film as it opens in limited release right now.

Lord of the Rings is still an interesting Oscar question ... will Oscar actually give a fantasy film top nominations? I think it will receive several technical nominations without question, but I still do not see it getting a Best Picture nomination from the Academy, even though its chances do look much better with the Golden Globes
