Latest Academy and Film Awards News Sept 2001

Awards Show is still the jewel in the crown, the Big Kahuna. I have been watching the Oscars for five decades and it was actually one of my childhood dreams to produce this unique event, which has become a part of our culture and which year after year celebrates the art, the glitter and the glamour of the movies."

The awards show will also count down the institute's selections for the year's ten best films. The AFI began their own film awards last year, but this will be the first year they are televised in their own telecast. With their awards now being broadcast on television, the AFI Awards
