The Top 5 Sexiest or Most Erotic Scenes in Film History© Nicholas Moreau
Aug 24, 2001
These top five selections of the sexiest or most erotic sequences from motion picture history range from blockbusters to a golden age Hollywood classic.
5) Julie Christie and Donald Sutherland making love in Don't Look Now (1973)
This scene is one of the best sex scenes in film history because it is not glamorized. Sutherland and Christie have sex like normal people, with crumpled newspapers on the bed, realistic kisses, and they even put their clothes back on at the end. It is this sequence's realism which gives it its erotic power. Of course, there are also rumors that it looked so authentic because Sutherland and Christie did it for real.
4) Nicole Kidman revealing her extramarital fantasy in Eyes Wide Shut (1999)
This sequence begins with Kidman getting high on pot. It appears that Cruise and Kidman are about to make love, until Cruise says the wrong thing, sending Kidman off into a dark confession. Dressed in a skimpy t-shirt and panties, she tells her husband about a time when she saw a man in passing, and was practically ready to throw her marriage away for one night of sex with this unknown man.
3) Leonardo DiCaprio drawing Kate Winslet nude in Titanic (1997)
This scene is foreshadowed from the start of the film. Rose (Winslet) asks Jack (DiCaprio) to draw her, wearing only a diamond necklace. She emerges from a room wearing a robe, and lets it fall to the ground. She lies down on the couch, and it is an incredibly tender scene, as the beauty of Winslet's body is seen in reality and on the page as Jack draws her with all the passion he has for both his art and for Winslet.
2) Sharon Stone uncrossing her legs in Basic Instinct (1992)
It's probably one of the best known scenes in film history. Sharon Stone's character is brought in to be interrogated by a group of male investigators. When she is pressed to reveal more about the murder being investigated, she addresses Michael Douglas' character directly with an incredibly blunt question, then slowly uncross her legs, revealing her vagina. She then crosses them again. That moment shows how much power a woman like her character can have over men, a power that has never been displayed more simply or powerfully.
1) Rita Hayworth singing "Put The Blame on Mame" in Gilda (1946)
Rita Hayworth was never sexier than in this scene. She performs the song dressed in a clingy black dress and black elbow-length gloves. As she sings, she does a pseudo-striptease, and even though the only item of clothing removed is one glove, there is no performance more erotic. It is still sexy some fifty-plus years later.
