The Best Oscar Acceptance Speech of all Time - Page 4

For me, it was the best Oscar acceptance speech of all time because they were heartfelt words that came from a man who probably never imagined ten years before that he would even be saying those words while accepting an Oscar. They speak the truth about the film industry, and how so many people work so hard to make a film, and most are never honored and noticed like the actors and directors who make the films. There are people working on the sound, on the sets, on makeup, on costumes, on visual effects, on casting, on stunts, on lighting, and so much more. Film is an incredible art form, made up of so many people all believing in the common goal of making a wonderful film. They toil, giving that "artistic part of themselves" often for no reward. The Academy Awards at least make an effort where no others do to give such incredible honors on the same show to all the different craftspeople responsible for a film, even giving honors to documentary filmmakers, and short film makers whose dream is no different from the people who have won the more well known honors.

It is this for reason among many why I think Hoffman's speech of 1980 deserves to be mentioned as perhaps the best Oscar acceptance speech ever given.

Of course, I know there have been several memorable Oscar speeches, and I would encourage you to post yours as discussions to this article, as well as commenting on what you think of my choice.

That's it for this week ... next week, as promised, I will finally begin a five part series where I reveal my choices for the 25 sexiest or most erotic scenes in film history. No, we're not talking pornographic films here (if we did, I'd have much more than 25!), but regular mainstream films ... scenes which were beautifully crafted, acted, or directed which by their nature or by their context come across as incredibly erotic or sexy. I'll reveal five each week, counting down to number one. Hope you'll join me then!
