5) Once the movie has started, shut your mouth. Period. If you can't figure something out, don't ask the person next to you to explain it to you ... go out for a pizza afterward and let them explain it to you then, because hey, the rest of us got it! 6) If you are late for the movie and the theater is dark, remember that the lights are not voice activated. And don't yell across the theatre ... "Jack, where are you?" Personally, I think the theatre should be locked at the moment movie starts ... no one else allowed in. Again, put some thought into going to a movie, and get there early! But mostly nowadays, the most common problem I see in the theatres in my area is the sound jumping, and then being mismatched with the film, which provides a distraction like you wouldn't believe. Movies are a very special experience, and it's way past time that theatre management make sure that every movie shows without a hitch. Most times people see a film it's the first time, and there is nothing to match the precious experience of seeing a film for the first time, particularly if it's a truly great film like THE GREEN MILE was. What would it hurt to simply have an employee watching the movie, or at least checking in on it to make sure glitches haven't occurred? I think much more effort should be concentrated on making sure the movie presentation itself is the absolute best, especially now that several areas are getting much nicer movie theatres. And I think these kinds of problems could also be solved if the theatres simply hired employees who truly loved movies. And that is the state of the movie-going experience in America in the year 2000.
