Ok, enough about the current movie theatres and their associated technical problems ... a couple of film-going trends that have really begun to bother me. Whenever it started, I don't know, but now we get commercial advertisements before films, sometimes so many that rival the number of previews before films! One time I counted 14 commercials! Any movie theatre who cares about its patrons should stop this practice ... the last thing I need before seeing a movie is more advertising, after being inundated with it on television ... and if we have to have commercials, limit them to 2 per film or something. This is an area where the good old days need to come back ... show a cartoon instead of commercials before the movie. Finally, I have to make an appeal to some of my fellow movie-goers. Additional annoyances in the movie-going experience come because of other movie-goers, so with that I present a wish list of 6 things that I hope all movie-goers will follow. 1) If you are not sure what movie you want to see and there is a long line, please move to the side and make your decision. Besides, I've always been curious about people who actually just go the movie theatre to see a movie, not knowing what they want to see. 2) If you are at the concession stand it shouldn't take you more then 10 seconds to decide what you want. You can check out the case while the person in front of you is getting their stuff. Again, do you really think they added new food items since you were last there? It's popcorn, candy, nachos, or pretzels ... this isn't one of the biggest decisions in the world to make. 3) If there is a line at the stand please don't have you're little boy or girl pay for their own stuff. I know the parents want their kids to feel grown up and learn math. Which is fine, but there is a time and a place for everything and holding up a line is not the place. 4) If you are a tall person, try not to sit in front of anyone. If this can't be helped, scrunch down. And even if you're not tall, if you go to sit in a row with no people and I'm sitting in the row behind on the end, sit somewhere else in that row other than right in front of me ... have some consideration for the people behind you. Unless a film is sold out, there's no reason to not stagger yourselves throughout the theatre to ensure your head doesn't become part of the film for someone. Of course, with some of the newer theatres with stadium seating (one of the best new innovations in movie-going), this problem is solved.
