The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) will present its distinguished Henry Mancini Award to John Debney and its prestigious Golden Note Award to Mark Snow at the 20th annual ASCAP Film and Television Awards gala on April 27th at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. In addition to honoring Debney and Snow, the event will honor the composers, songwriters and publishers of the biggest box office film music and the most performed television music of the year.

ASCAP's coveted Henry Mancini Award will be presented to composer John Debney in recognition of his outstanding achievements and contributions to the world of film and television music. Past recipients of the award include Quincy Jones, Michel Legrand, Randy Newman, James Newton Howard, Johnny Mandel, Alan Silvestri, Hans Zimmer, and Howard Shore.

Debney is one of the most sought after composers in Hollywood and has proven his versatility with over 50 feature films to his credit, encompassing a wide variety of box office hits, including Bruce Almighty, Elf, Raising Helen, The Princess Diaries, and his most critically acclaimed and Oscar nominated score The Passion of The Christ.

"As a composer who began his career in television music and scores for independent films, during the last decade John Debney has become one of today's most sought-after feature film composers, and is also one of the youngest to receive the prestigious ASCAP Henry Mancini Award," said ASCAP President and Chairman Marilyn Bergman. "We are proud to celebrate the career of this most prolific and talented composer."

In receiving The ASCAP Golden Note Award, another of ASCAP's most prestigious honors, Mark Snow will join a select group of songwriters and composers that includes Stevie Wonder, Andre Previn, Jay-Z, Garth Brooks, Sean "P.Diddy" Combs, Jose Feliciano, Alan Jackson, Jimmy Jam and Terry Lewis, Elton John and Tom Petty.

Snow's status as one of today's most innovative and successful film and television composers is only the latest element of a far-reaching and eclectic career in music. The award-winning and Julliard-trained musician, best known for his theme and scores for the X-Files and Millennium, has composed music for hundreds of TV-movies and television series including The Twilight Zone, Hart to Hart, The Love Boat, Dynasty and Starsky & Hutch.

"Mark Snow's career spans decades and his work is more vital today than ever," said Marilyn Bergman. "The ASCAP Golden Note is awarded to songwriters and composers who have achieved extraordinary milestones, and it is extraordinary that Mark Snow will have won consecutive awards in several categories for all of the past 20 years at these ceremonies."
