THE PRICE OF FAMEIt is the collective opinion of responsible Dalmatian breeders, owners, Dog Rescue Groups, Shelters and Humane Associations that Disney is morally obligated to take an active role in preventing impulse purchases of these dogs. Although Disney has agreed to run a disclaimer about responsible dog ownership with the credits, this is a small concession. Disney stands to make millions of dollars on the movie and the sale of related merchandise yet it is the shelters and rescue groups that will be left to use their already limited resources to care for the unwanted animals that will undoubtedly result from this movie. An OnLine Petition started by the HSUS is asking Michel Eisner and Disney to take responsibility and at least eliminate the use of live puppies in promoting the movie. As a concerned breeder, owner or animal lover, you can do your part and join over 12,000 people who have already signed this petition. It has 'rained Dalmatians' once. Please do not let this tragedy be repeated. As stated by Spotsavers, the Dalmatian Assistance League of St.Louis, "Cruella DeVil could have made many coats with the pelts of the thousands of dogs that lost their lives or were abandoned after the last movie."
