Violets of Late

Oct 31, 2001 - © Dorothy Harris

But the last two lines of this poem offer the hope for which many of us are seeking. We are hoping for normalcy, we are hoping for that thing that will make us see violets again. Dunbar Nelson writes:

"And now - unwittingly, you've made me dream
Of violets, and my soul's forgotten gleam"

While I'll still plant, and I'll still attempt normalcy, I'm waiting for that thing, perhaps peace again, to remind me of "my soul's forgotten gleam."
