A Visit to the Kennel

I want to tell you about my visit to the kennel. Mary and Dwight were called out of town unexpectedly, so I had to go to the kennel. I don't mind visiting the vet's, but hate it when I have to stay there for days at a time. Though there are other dogs and people there, it's just not the same as being at home with Mary and Dwight. So, on July 22, Dwight took me to the vet's to be boarded until they returned. I was a little upset when I saw them getting ready to go. Because they boarded me in January, I knew all the signs that they were getting ready to leave. When I arrived there, I tried to go back out the door. Dwight soon stopped that and I was taken into the back and put in a kennel. I was not happy and didn't eat much at all for the four days that Mary and Dwight were gone. One positive thing about being at the kennel was that I was able to go out into the run and get some exercise off my leash. I don't often get to do that. When I'm in the yard here at home, I have to be tied because the yard isn't fenced. I don't really mind because I like to lie under the huge maple tree in the shade. However, it was nice to run free in the dog run at the kennel. Dwight and Mary got home a day earlier than expected and Dwight came early in the morning to pick me up. Unfortunately, the vet didn't expect them until the next day and I hadn't had my rabies vaccination or my bath. So, I had to stay there until 4 pm. I do love my bath and it helped just knowing that Mary and Dwight were back and I'd be going home soon. Dwight picked me up and I was very happy to be home. However, I ignored Mary and Dwight for the next two days. I wouldn't play with them or bother much with them. I was letting them know I wasn't happy about being away from home. Well, it's over now and I'm back to normal. The experience wasn't such a bad one, but I'm hoping that Mary and Dwight don't have to leave home for a long time. I would rather be here with my pack. I get lonely when my pack leaves.
