Soul Sista: Fusion of woman and music
Interpretation of the situation
By:makkah
Dig? But Angie quickly gets to the subject at hand-Biters. She calls out these so called artists who are" getting by on Xerox like we don't know." Fakin, bitin, and imitating these haters are doomed for unmistakeable failure. During a time when soul music is being highly revived and recognized (bout dam time) there will undoubtedly be those who are just jumpin' on the bandwagon/boat. Well the new school soul folk are not taking it lightly. So " here's a little sumthin' to make you think-you're goin' down if the mutha___sinks" Word from the wise, be true to yourself. This album spotlights Ms. Stone's brilliance and diversity. She sings about everything from brothas to money to broken hearts, suicide and dedication. It's all real and it's easy to find something that is similar to your past or present. Prime examples are the tracks " More than a woman" "pissed off" "snowflakes" and "I wish I didn't miss you". The first track is a testimony of praise to that special lady for being such a pillar of strength and source of loyalty and inspiration that he deems her an angel. All the while he gives her credit for making him the man he is! Wow. Now ladies, how many women have devoted significant time, energy, blood, sweat, faith, love and tears into molding a young boy or young man into a full fledged MAN and have been DENIED the credit/glory/gratitude?! WELL THIS TRACK IS FOR YOU! How many have been downtrodden by that one bad experience or mistake and you just cant live it down?! They won't let you correct your wrong--they beat you down and no matter how hard you try or how long you beg and cry- YOU JUST CAN NOT LIVE? Well, " PISSED OFF" chronicles your experience. The later to aforementioned tracks are mellowed out odes to past love affairs that for whatever reason came to an end and lingering feelings from these situations. "Wish I didn't miss you" makes you wonder who got Ms.Diva-girl fiendin' for one more kiss, hug, touch.....hmmmm..but we gonna leave that one alone *wink. *..
