Planet Soul or Neo- Soul, whichever you prefer, has been occupied some majorly talented veterans. Pioneers such as Aretha, Patty, Sam, Marvin, Prince...need I say more?

It certainly is not a well kept secret that the success of Soul Music lies in the ability of people like you to relate to it. The other half of that "secret to success" lies in it's ability to re-invent itself.

The early 1990's marked a Soul reincarnation of sorts. The emergence of Soul dynamo Angie Stone with her rich voice and sultry melodramatic single,"No More Rain" marked a luminescent starting point.

Closely following suit, the world of Rhythm and Blues/Soul was pleasantly surprised as it was inundated by an extremely sexy, barefoot and goateed Eric Benet. Exploding on the scene with his down to earth persona, fans were quickly smitten. (His singin' aint bad either). His second LP entitled "A Day In The Life" had Soul fans more than intrigued. His hit Duet single "Georgy Porgy" featuring Faith Evans, and "Spend My Life" featuring Tamia were all the rave.

The next shining Soul Star is a shy and laid back New Yorker (Brooklynite) by the name of Maxwell. Well, simply put his satin falsetto and subtle sex appeal made every woman wanna parlay in his Urban Hang Suite. Buzzworthy is an understatement! "Til The Cops Come Knockin'" and "Whenever, Wherever,Whatever" Guaranteed Maxwell a permanent place in romance. Now, when it's time to "get it on" Maxwell is right up there with Teddy, Prince, and Marvin. Enough said.

How can we forget about a petite lil' Texan reminiscent of Lady Day who blazed up the charts with her Debut single " On and On?" Ms. Erykah Badu stormed our world with her earthy beauty and uncanny voice.

With all the formers having already been named, I know you may be thinking who could be next? Present date 2003 is marking another succession in the wave of modern day Soul Music. Approaching the stage are vivacious new creative entities that await the chance to make their mark. Among those vying for the lime is an extraordinary talent DWELE G. Also contending we have another Philadelphian, or should I say Illadelphian..Ms. Vivian Green .If you haven't heard let me fill you in!

DWELE G

A Detroit native, Andwele Gardner, prefers you call him "Dwele" (pronounced DWE-LAY). His vibe is Hip-Hop meets Soul meets Spoken Word Poetry. Once you press play and enter "Dwele's Place" it soon becomes evident why his name means "God had brought me." His silky, smooth vocals are a godsend in the era of doctored up studio voices.
