It shows a picture of the seven drivers, and asked you to click on the driver to get links to get their bio, stats, etc. Most of your NASCAR type web sites are still full of '99 stats and info. A lot of webmasters will be busy getting ready for the 2000 series. It will be interesting to see some new graphics on the sites denoting the 2000 series starting the new millennium.
Mark Martin....... Recovering Nicely
News on the Roush racing web site, and in the Winston Cup Scene, is favorable for Mark Martin. The reports say that Mark has been flat on his back since the Nov. 22nd operation, only allowed to sit up twenty minutes at a time. His doctor claims his back bone is fully fused, so now he can get around and even do light workouts with his weights. Greg Biffle, a Roush Racing teammate from the truck series, will test his 2000 Ford Taurus for him at Daytona and Talledega. Mark plans to attend the testing, but not to drive until Daytona Speedweeks. He plans on participating in the Winston Cup Preview at Winston-Salem, NC on Jan. 15th, where he will be signing autographs and getting pictures taken with his fans.
Earnhardt Sr's Helpers........ Dillon and Sauter
Jay Sauter and Mike Dillon will take over the testing duties for Dale Sr. while he recuperates from his back surgery. I think I mentioned a week or two ago that he wouldn't have any problem getting drivers for the required Daytona and Talledega tests.Mike Dillon, son-in-law of team owner Richard Childress, tested at Talledega for Earnhardt on Jan 4th. Mike will drive a full schedule in the Busch series for Richard Childress Racing in the 2000 season. Jay Sauter is the winning driver of the Craftsman Truck entry for Richard Childress racing. He will test for Dale at Daytona on Jan 10-11. Earnhardt is reported to be doing fine, and is healing according to schedule. I'd like to see them get that 2000 Monte Carlo competitive for him by the time Daytona rolls around. It's just around the corner! Wouldn't it be a hoot to see Dale win an 8th championship?
News Bits....... At this point, almost any news is welcome
Rusty Wallace seems to have a hair line fracture in his shoulder from a snow skiing accident in the North Carolina mountains right before Christmas. It's reported that he will be unable to test the Miller Lite Ford Taurus. Buddy Baker will probably handle the testing, he has been involved with Penske Racing's testing at Daytona and Talledega for the past three years.
