Matt Kenseth......... Winston Cup Rookie

Mark Martin's been his mentor in the Busch series, now he will be competing against him. Roush Racing will have three entries in the Daytona 500 that can draft together and be just as strong as the Hendrick team was with their one, two, three finish in '97. Coupled with Jeff Burton, and Mark, Matt will have a lot of knowledge and advice available to him for his Winston Cup debut season. He's up against a tough array of newcomers for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year honors, including his nemesis, Dale Earnhardt Jr.. Who, you'll remember, bumped him out of a race, and out of contention for the Busch series points battle for the championship.

I like Matt. I remember his first full year in the Busch series, when Lycos dropped him as a sponsor, and they ran the race with the Lycos logo because they had been good to the team, and they wanted to show their appreciation. Matt won the race, and Lycos came back on-board as the primary sponsor. Matt went on to win two more races that year. Just out of curiosity, I typed   www.mattkenseth.com/   into the URL address slot on my browser, and came up with a web site. If you like Matt Kenseth, you'll have to check it out. It has lots of pictures, bio, message board, merchandise, and lots of other stuff geared to the race fan's interest.

Roush Racing........ New Web Site

There was a link to   Roush Racing.com   on Matt Kenseth's site, so I figured I'd check it out, and was pleasantly surprised with what I found. The site has lots more areas and info than most sites, with a chat room, and an "Ask Jack" area where you can submit racing questions to Jack Roush. The site will no doubt be updated for the 2000 season debut of Matt Kenseth, who isn't listed on Jack Roush's site yet as being a Roush driver. Mark Martin, Johnny Benson, Chad Little, Jeff Burton, Kevin Lepage are listed, along with Greg Biffle and Mike Bliss from the Craftsman Truck series.
