Homeschooling on a Budget: Websites with Free Worksheets and Teaching Materials

Buying worksheets in teacher supply stores can be expensive. Instead, look on the internet to find all the materials you need to teach phonics, time telling, reading, math, literature, grammar and more – for free.

Choosing Online Worksheets

1. Figure out your teaching objectives. If you are using different text books or one set curriculum, look at what your kids are working on. The solar system? Multiplication? Treasure Island? That is your starting point. Give your kids work that reinforces what you have been teaching them.

2. Look through the worksheet before you download it. Will it really benefit learning? Is it too hard? Is it too easy? Be selective.

3. Organize your worksheets. You can either print them out or download them. If you print them, then put holes in the sides and either put them in your kids’ notebooks under the appropriate study area, or put them in your planning book behind your lesson plan for the week. That way when you are ready, you can get right to work.
