For those whom were wondering where did the dudes from
Men At Work go (besides Colin Hay whom is currently touring solo again), they dio go and join other bands! (At least, Jerry Speiser did).
Frost began in 1997 in Melbourne, Australia band fronted by Lee "Lemon" Trevena who belts out the vocals. The bass is played by Tim "Porn" Powne and the piano/keyboards is Benny Bishop, a recipient of Bachelor of Music from Latrobe University. The drums are done by
Jerry Speiser whom drummed for
Men At Work during the 80's. Jerry came onboard during January 2002 to lay down new drum tracks with the band.
Frost currently has 4 EPs to their credit . Their latest has a standout track called
"Mr. Plat". The other tracks include
"Candyman",
"Living", "Littlelover" and
"Only One". Their sound is rock and roll pop; semi-heavy guitar but melodic at the same time. Though the lyrics may be on the simplistic side, it's still a fun ride through the EP. One fan noted in their guestbook likened them to
Matthew Sweet.
They have the distinctive achievement of being chosen twice so far from competitions. The first being picked to be on a "Gold Record Music Compilation" to be distributed in the United States and Canada to college radio stations and second to play at Revolver for the Hitz FM competition. According to their website, the band will have an animated clip to be release in the next few months.
Other artists have also seen to fit to record some of
Frost's music as well, mostly notably Brian Canham (Pseudo Echo) and Ben Carey (Savage Garden). There is a host of Australian musicians as well.
As for
Colin Hay, former lead singer and founder of Men At Work, he is currently touring solo with one-off dates including New York City on February 14th at the intimate club
Shine. He is also scheduled to appear in Australia on Sunday, January 26th at St. Leonards Vineyard. He is promoting his latest solo acoustic album entitled
Going Somewhere.
He has also kept busy during the years, according to the website "The Works", Colin contributed to the soundtrack to "Kangaroo Jack" with a new version
"Down Under" as well as 2 songs for the TV soundtrack for the hit NBC series "Scrubs". He also lent his speaking voice to the Disney movie "The Country Bears" as well as the soundtrack.
