There have been several remakes that have been recorded this year.

First off, the most popular of the remakes is "Papa Don't Preach" by Miss Kelly Osbourne of "The Osbournes" of MTV semi-reality fame. It is from the 1985 album entitled True Blue by Madonna. It hit #14 on the request line a week after it was released according to Z100, a New York radio station and debuted at #37 on the billboard charts. Mama Sharon says Madonna gave her blessing and it is the most added pop song on radio playlists. It is definitely a much rockier and throatier version than the pop-laden original.

The single is the first from The Osbourne Family Soundtrack (it has both explicit and clean versions) to be released on June 11, 2002 on Epic Records. Kelly Osbourne is Ozzy's second daughter (the first not wanting to be on the show named Amiee). Rumors are that her first appearance will be on the MTV Movie Awards. The album also features the show's theme and Ozzy song "Crazy Train" sung by Pat Boone in his lounge lizard phase. "Papa Don't Preach" is produced by her brother Jack and the members of Incubus playing on the track. A full length CD is sure to follow along with every other merchandise idea one can imagine.

"Heaven" by DJ Sammy & Yanou featuring Do is a Bryan Adams remake. It is from the 1984's Reckless album. DJ Sammy is a Spanish disc jockey and producer. It was released as a stand-alone single on February 26, 2002 off the Robbins label and has been doing remarkably well. The voice is a wonderfully smooth female and the beat is a definite techno club. Currently it is #38 on Billboard charts and #51 the week before. No word on what Mr. Adams thinks of it.

Alien Ant Farm has " Smooth Criminal" on their CD called Anthology. It is a Michael Jackson remake from his Bad album. The band goes as far as mimicking Jackson's trademark cries and same dance moves in the video. Like "Papa Don't Preach", Alien Ant Farm made the song rockier to keep up with their fan base. It has been out for quite some time but Jackson also released his re-mastered Bad album in 2001.

A Journey song called "Separate Ways" has been remade and now broadcasting on the radio. Unfortunately, the name of the band is unknown. It is fronted by the wonderful female voice of Dee Robert that does great justice to the song and makes it all about her instead of all about Steve Perry.
