Sebastian Bach: The Man and His Music

Sebastian Bach (nicknamed "Baz" and real name is Sebastian Philip Bierk) is the former frontman for late '80s/early '90s hair metal pop band, Skid Row. The band has major hits with "Youth Gone Wild", "I Remember You" and "18 and Life".

Bach started on his path to stardom with a few forgettable bands, but it was Skid Row that would bring him onto the charts. Skid Row started in 1989 with their self-titled release and continued with a B-Side Ourselves EP in 1992 and Slave to the Grind in 1991. Their third full length album, 1995's Subhuman Race, was their swan song with Bach.

Bach split with Skid Row with friction sometime around 1996/97. In 1998, as all labels were with defunct bands but they released a best of compilation called Forty Seasons - The Best of Skid Row.

Bach moved on with some solo efforts like The Last Hard Men, Sebastian Bach & Friends and contributed to the Twisted Sister tribute. Bring'em Bach Alive! is his solo 1999 effort with Sebastian Bach & Friends covering much of his Skid Row career on Spitfire Records.

Bach and and his wife Maria had a celebrity reading by John Edward on his show, "Crossing Over" on the Sci-Fi channel. It would be criminal not to mention his Summer/Fall 2000 leading man Broadway turn in "Jekyll & Hyde". The critics actually did approve of him in the role once they got past his bad boy image thing he himself had created (remember that lawsuit in which he threw a bottle back in the audience and cut a fan up?).

Apparently, Bach could scream better than the other actors that also read for the role. The "Great White Way" must have got a rock 'n roll dose. This production has already closed its doors. He also was back on Broadway in late 2001 for "Rocky Horror" as Riff Raff. It recently ended in January 2002.

In his personal life, Sebastian married his wife Maria in 1992, which was not publicized by the record label. They had their first child, a son, in 1988 and a second son in 1993. Bach was born on April 3, 1968 in the Bahamas.
