Recently CMJ magazine featured an article on
Def Leppard. What's these '80s guys doing in this hipster mag? It turns it out, it was an "ode to the '80s"-type piece with the author going back over his teenage love years.
Their songs from the '80s, were
"Pour Some Sugar On Me" and
"Love Bites" from the
Hysteria album. Def Leppard was one of the few bands
According to Mercury Record's Official Site, DL first starting getting together in 1977. The site is also good for biography and discography as well. Unfortunately, it ends at 1996 time frame. It does proclaim that in January 1983 that the single
"Photograph" released to massive acclaim and sales from the Pyromania album. In US, the LP sells 100,000 a week for most of year and ends up selling over seven million copies in the US. Success in the rest of the world eludes them at this stage.
Amazingly enough, the drummer got into an accident, lost his arm and learned to drum with the one arm. Like most of the other artists in the '80s decade, DL continued almost non-stop and then finally slowed down a bit going into the 1990s. Their last album in the '80s was the massive
Hysteria in 1987.
From that point, they didn't release another album until 1992 with
Adrenalize, then they picked up speed with releases in '93, '95 and 1996. According to the Atomic Mess website, a new album is expected in early 1999.
