Did George Michael Get Whammed?

George Michael, formerly of Wham! (real name: long ass Greek name of Georgios Kyriacos Panayiotou) is known for his daredevil antics.

George and Brooke Shields made a big splash dating in the '80s. Then Wham! broke up after George's initial solo single "A Different Corner" did well. The video was all in white and retrospective looking.

George finally went solo in 86/87 era with all his model-induced videos and burning jackets. He made duets with Aretha Franklin (rocked!) and Elton John. He never seems to have an album out and never tours in the States.

His records everywhere else in the world do quite well and he is very popular. He was in legal entaglements for quite some time with Sony and now resides at DreamWorks, though there's rumbling that he is also unhappy there. Boy, he is nitpicky, eh?

Back to the present, his latest CD "Older" didn't get much play in the States but his video got a lot of attention. The video for "Fastlove" is really very good. Seems to be the man was on a bit of a come back trail here in the Americas.

Now full circle to April 1998. WHAT the HELL was he THINKING?? Hello?! There were rumors he was gay.   When he did his "Sex" video back in the mid-80s, many people  thought "hey, guess he's not" and shrugged it off. Then there never was another woman that the public knew of in his life. So technically he is neither gay nor straight but bisexual.

He's exploring the gay side of his character at the moment according to his CNN Interview from Apr. 11, 1998, by admitting his homosexuality and not being involved with a woman in 10 years. Bet his former girlfriend(s) just loved to hear that!

The newest information via CNN also has George now arrested on charges for a lewd act in a public park on Apr. 16, 1998. He is scheduled for a May 5th hearing but need not be there in person. Doubt he'll show up anyway. Chances are he will receive a fine and probation since he is a first-time offender (though in his interviews, he admits to doing this before-yuck!).

This whole side of George Michael is not exactly endearing. George apparently thought it was very important not to make his preferences public - probably assuming it would be detrimental to his career. Maybe he should have given more "Faith" to his fans. Now, of course, he made himself into almost a cartoonish figure with jokes going fast and furious all of the late-night talk show opening segments.
