© Michele Morabito

Geffen has a Vintage '80s CD compliations released. Vintage '80s, Volume I, has:
  • WANG CHUNG: Dance Hall Days &
  • DEBBIE HARRY: French Kissin
  • JOHN HIATT: Riding with the King
  • BERLIN: Sex (I'm a...) & No More Words
  • STAN RIDGWAY: Goin' Southbound
  • LONE JUSTICE: Ways To Be Wicked
  • WAS(NOT WAS): Knocked Down,Made Small
  • MADNESS: Our House
  • THE PLIMSOULS: A Million Miles Away
  • QUARTERFLASH: Take Me To Heart
  • RIC OCASEK: Emotion in Motion
  • GENE LOVES JEZEBEL: Desire
Geffen Records was started 1980 so it seems obvious that they would be the most identifiable among the big record labels that would have a big stable of '80s artists. Of the above, Wang Chung, Debbie Harry, Berlin, Madness and Gene Loves Jezebel are the most identifiable.

Of course, Wang Chung's and Madness' songs is the most identifiable; doesn't Berlin have the "Top Gun" soundtrack song "Take My Breath Away"? Ric Ocasek and Debbie Harry's respective songs are their post-band days.

Other than that, the CD looks oh-so-80s-cool. The label site frontpage of Vintage '80s Site is hysterical, very cute and definitely gives a great reminder of the '80s in the computer world. The site also gives you the opportunity to hear the audio files of Wang Chung, Berlin and Madness from Volume I and Cher and Edie from Volume II.

There's also some video files (amazing!) of Berlin and Wang Chung and from Volume II comes Cher and Whitesnake. Remember those videos? The ship and the boys and then the car and the girlie? There is a Vintage 80s, Volume II:
  • ASIA: Heat of the Moment
  • QUARTERFLASH: Harden My Heart
  • JOHN HIATT: I Look For Love
  • DEBBIE HARRY: In Love With Love
  • OXO: Whirly Girl
  • BERLIN: Take My Breath Away
  • SAMMY HAGAR: Your Love is Driving Me Crazy
  • WHITESNAKE: If This Is Love
  • CHER: If I Could Turn Back Time
  • MADNESS: It Must Be Love
  • WANG CHUNG: Let's Go
  • EDIE BRICKELL & New Bohemians: What I Am
  • MODELS: Out Of Mind Out of Sight
  • PLANET P PROJECT: Why Me?
How great is this? Great songs! Asia, Berlin!!! , Whitesnake , Cher, Wang Chung, and Edie (is she 80s?) - all terrific songs! We recognize and can identify almost all except maybe Planet P and Oxo. Nada idea where they came from.

The coolest thing about the site is its section called War Stories. Visitors to the site can submit their 80s stories and get it published on their site. Take a look, remember your stories, and e-mail them in to Geffen!
