Mourning Michael Hutchence: 1960-1997

What a shock to hear of another rock star death; Michael Kelland Hutchence, the lead singer of Australian pop group INXS. It seem to be more commonplace these days sadly. The saddest of all is that a 16 month-old baby that will not remember her father at all. Live for her if not for anything else.

Musicians around the world dedicated performances to the singer including U2 and Duran Duran, both lead singers were friends of Michael. 

There is no "official" answer to why Michael died. We know it was by suicide by belt hanging, but not why. It was known that Michael was not a suicidal type personality. It is known, however, that his girlfriend, outlandish Englishwoman Paula Yates, has been in a custody fight with her ex-husband Live-Aid hero Bob Geldof. This reportedly was depressing Michael Hutchence greatly as the couple wanted to marry and start life anew.

Greatly enough to committ a surprise suicide? That's something investigators and family will determine in the future. It is also reported that Michael may have died accidently by the means of cutting off oxygen during sex for greater pleasure. He and Paula admitted this to some tabloid reporter. Whether they really did or just said it for the heck of it is unknown. 

His death comes along the heels of the unexpected and accidental deaths of English royal Princess Diana, Italian designer Gianni Versace and the natural death of Mother Theresa. 

INXS, is the subject of an article on S101, Return of the Old Guard: New CDs by Depeche Mode and INXS, so they do hold a somewhat special place in this topic.

I don't know about the rest of you, but I was saddened by all of this. As time goes by, it looks like there will be a court battle as well btwn Paula and the band. *sigh*
