Tina Turner and Cyndi Lauper were spending the summer touring for Tina's Wildest Dreams tour in 1997.   Now, Cyndi is again on the road with Cher and Tina recently cancelled a tour with fellow diva Elton John.

For Tina Turner, the last few months have been busy. She was present with Whitney Houston and Cher on the stage of New York City's Beacon Theater as a Diva for VH1's Dive Live program (and hence the Elton John duet which fuelled to be the cancellation of their tour). She is expected to have a 1999 calendar and "greatest hits" album.

As well, there was a fall tour with a pre-millennial concert stop on NY Eve's at Caesars Palace in Las Vegas with Elton John that no one is quite sure is on or off. There are rumors, however, the she is going to release a studio album instead of the originally planned "Greatest Hits #2" album. Tina is also celebrating her 60th birthday and planning a Year 2000 world tour.

Cyndi Lauper has also had a busy couple of years. She had her baby after Tina's tour (she was hugely pregnant). Mid-day November 19, 1997, she gave birth to her first child after a 14-hour labor and all natural child birth was coached by her husband, David Thornton. Cyndi and David are now the proud parents of a beautiful baby boy named Declyn.

She was promoting at that time, her latest and sixth CD Sisters of Avalon. She has since released a Xmas album called Merry Christmas..Have a Nice Life (see Christmas buying article) and Phil Collins has covered True Colors.

In acting news, she was courted to start her own sitcom (nothing has come of it yet), and she was seen in the finale episode of Mad About You and a movie called the Opportunists. There is no news about an upcoming album, so the tour is sort of a great hits thing.
