Heart: Putting Seattle on the Map

VH-1 currently is broadcasting a "Behind the Music" special on the girl rock band, Heart.  Heart is a unique band because they might have started in the ‘70s, their popularity and success hit a all-time high in the ‘80s. More importantly, put Seattle on the musical map way before Nirvana and the rest of the grunge wave.

Their album, Heart , was released by Capitol Records in 1985. The songs that album contained - "If Looks Could Kill", "What About Love?", "Never", "These Dreams" - all amazing songs and the band took off from that point on to become the girl rock band and video mavericks.

In 1987, Heart followed up with Bad Animals and the singles "Who Will You Run To" and "Alone". These two albums and accompanying videos encompass what women in music was in the ‘80s - big hair, lots of make-up and sort of a trashy lingerie thing happening.

Heart ended the ‘80s with Brigade and the single "All I Wanna Do Is Make Love To You". Not too mention the Footloose soundtrack love theme "Almost Paradise" sung by Ann and Mike Reno from Loverboy.

Heart’s line-up has mainly been the two main sisters Ann and Nancy Wilson. Lately, it has been also Howard Leese. The line-up has been steadily changing all through their 20 years in existence. Right now, there is a Greatest Hits album out, but it seems to refer to pre-‘80s material.

Heart has splintered off into another group called the Lovemongers which had an album out in 1998 called Whirlygig and Here is Christmas. In 1998 onwards, the latest in Heart news is that Ann Wilson is featured as a 1920's singer in a Seattle run of "Teatro ZinZanni-Love, Chaos & Dinner", a theatrical cabaret. Nancy is recording a live album which will be released somewhere February 1999.

Has anyone ever seen the band (or any of its splinter groups) tour?

I know I would love to hear about it on this discussion group.
