Hypnotherapy and Past Life Regression, Part I

© T. Darlene Cheek, CHt.

Do you believe in reincarnation? This series of articles is going to take a look at different belief systems, and I hope everyone will keep an open mind. Past life regression is something I have personally experienced, and it has opened my views of life and death in ways I never dreamed of. So even if you are thinking at this point "This woman is a psycho case," please keep reading. I am going to present this article from the point of view that reincarnation is real, and that I do believe in it.

First of all, why would we want to visit our past lives? In every life we live, we have a purpose. In every life we live, we learn a lesson. In every life we live, we correspond with other souls that play roles in many of our other lifetimes. Secondly, using hypnosis, it is possible to see into the spirit world with our own mind when we are in the superconscious state. When you see your past lives, you are able to bring back the lessons learned that are important to what you are doing in this lifetime. Dr. Michael Newton, PH.D., even hypnotizes people to view their lives between lives, which teaches us much about life, death, and the spirit world.

You are going to hear a lot about Dr. Newton in this series of articles. He has written two books that I've been waiting on my entire life. Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls both explore our lives between lives where we go to heal, re-energize, and make plans for our next lives and what we want to learn and accomplish in them.

Now, why is this part of our holistic therapy? All of us struggle for answers. Why are we here? What am I supposed to do in this life? Why do I keep making the same mistakes over and over again? Why do I feel connected to this one special person? Who is my soulmate? Is there a God? Is there a Heaven and/or Hell? Our lives are filled with questions from the day we enter the world. We live our lives to answer the questions. We're learning every single day. We discover ourselves more, we mature, we learn to heal from past wounds.

Tapping into our past lives, or lives between lives, is another tool for learning. When Dr. Newton hypnotizes his clients, he takes them all the way to the theta level of hypnosis. Both of his books have case studies and scripts of the sessions with his clients that delve deep into all of these issues. I highly recommend his two books if you are interested in this subject. We're going to have a Cyber Book Club here on these pages, so that anyone who wants to can read these books and then discuss them here with others who have read them.
