Here are a few neat chess games you can find as shareware. Descriptions are taken from the manufacturers' web pages:

Chess Captor - "Chess Captor is an utility for Windows 95, 98 or NT to help you create beautiful, clear chess diagrams on the fly. The diagrams can be printed, saved to file for later reopening, saved as an image file or sent to clipboard. Using Chess Captor can best be compared to sitting in front of a chess board yourself: you have total control over how pieces move, where to insert new pieces, what moves to make etc. No validation of played moves takes place. This also makes Chess Captor a handy utility for analyzing and replaying games. Chess Captor comes with built in PGN & EPD viewers."

The license fee for Chess Captor 2.20 is $25

EG Chess - If you've ever wanted to play chess on your computer with a 3d board, EG Chess may be the game for you. Check it out, and if you like, the registration is only $5.

Chess Mentor "Chess Mentor, a revolutionary software product which changes the face of computer-based learning. You will understand chess. You will learn the concepts underlying effective strategy and tactics. You will develop your critical thinking and decision making skills." Basic registration is $49.
