Here are three elegant centerpieces perfect for summer parties.

Supplies needed to make these wreaths are:
  • 1 vine wreath base - medium to large (1st wreath).
  • 1 Straw wreath base – medium (3rd wreath).
  • 2 Vine wreath bases – small 3 to 4 inches (3rd wreath).
  • 1 Styrofoam base – (2nd wreath).
  • 4 Tapered candles - (2 for 2nd wreath, 2 for 3rd wreaths).
  • 1 Round candle- (3rd wreath).
  • 4-6 water tubes available at florist shops (1st wreath).
  • modeling clay (3rd wreath).
  • bag of moss (optional) (1st wreath).
  • rbbon (optional) (2nd wreath)
  • hot glue gun
  • assortment of dried flower “picks” (you select color theme)
Note: Statice and strawflowers come in a variety of colors and are great filler flowers.

Making the Dried and Fresh Flower Wreath
  1. Start by placing the vine base on a flat surface. Arrange and insert the selection of flower picks around the top of the base.
  2. Insert the water tubes with fresh flowers strategically among the dried flowers
  3. Optional, fill in around the tubes with moss.
  4. Visually check for balance of color, fill in with additional flowers where needed.
  5. The fresh flowers should last for several days and a slight mist prior to your party will help keep them fresh.
Making the Hors d’oeuvres Wreath
  1. Optional, wrap the ribbon around the base, for color. You may also make bows to enhance focal points.
  2. Push the candles into the base and secure with hot glue.
  3. Using toothpicks, secure the edibles in groups around the base. Use sprigs of parsley to enhance colors. Note: Do not place food too close to the candles because of the dripping wax.
  4. To keep the appetizers cool and for effect, chill a tray and place the wreath on it.
  5. As the appetizers are nibbled on, you can quickly replenish.
Making a Trio of Flower and Candle Wreaths
  1. Starting with the straw base insert the assorted flower picks all around the top and sides of the base. This is a “full” looking wreath so don’t be afraid to use lots of flowers.
  2. Put some larger flowers throughout the wreath as focal points.
  3. Visually check for balance and fullness, fill in where necessary.
  4. Create 2 smaller wreaths being sure to check for fullness and balance.
  5. Use modeling clay to hold the candles in place.
