INDIE: Disability Search Engine

Indie - no, it's not short for Indiana Jones. Indie actually stands for Integrated Network of Disability Information and Education, a premier Canadian web site that centers on its goal to be "the world's most comprehensive one-stop resource for products, services and information for the world-wide disability Community." This bilingual (English and French) site has listings from around the world.

If you are looking for a disability-related web site, Indie probably has it listed. Looking for an address, phone number or other important information for a Canadian disability support organization? It's probably listed here. (For those of you outside of Canada - I'm sure if you contacted the Canadian organization they would be able to provide you with some leads to organizations within your own country.)

Looking for disabled friendly and operated media? Indie operates an International Directory of Disability Media.

If you are a member with a Canadian non-profit organization looking for an opportunity to move your group's mission into the electronic age, Indie can help with that as well, providing free web space for your web presence. The organization, however, must be disability-related and relevant to the community of persons with disabilities.

So the next time your stumped looking for that elusive link, why not check Indie out - they just might have it!

Suite 101 Disability Mailing List

For those of you who need a gentle reminder when a new article is posted, or would like to be notified when a new link is put up, I have developed a notification e-mail list which would have you receiving three to four more e-mails a month. If you want to be put on this mailing list, just click on my EMAIL link at the top of this page and drop me a line with your e-mail address and I would be happy to add you. You don't have to be a member of Suite101 for this service.
