Bobby Vee's
"The Night Has A Thousand Eyes" was a no. 3 smash in late Dec. 1962-early Jan. "Charms" peaked at no. 13 in mid-April, and "Be True To Yourself" made no. 34 in late July. This would be his last top 40 hit until 1967.

The Orlons also had a no. 3 smash with "South Street" in early March. "Not Me" made no. 12 in early July, and "Cross Fire" peaked at no. 19 in late Oct. This would be the group's last top 40 hit.

Bobby Vinton started out with "Trouble Is My Middle Name" (no. 33, early Jan.) backed by/ "Let's Kiss And Make Up" (no. 38, mid-Jan). "Over The Mountain (Across The Sea)" peaked at no. 21 on March 30th. And then, came: "Blue On Blue", a no. 3 smash on June 1st, "Blue Velvet", a no. 1 smash for three weeks in late Aug., followed by another No. 1 smash (for four weeks), "There! I've Said It Again" in early Dec.

The Duprees
had "Why Don't You Believe Me" at no. 37 in mid-Sept. And their next, "Have You Heard"( one of my personal favorites!) was a no. 18 hit on Nov. 30th. This was their last top 40 hit.

Elvis Presley had "One Broken Heart For Sale" go to no. 11 in late Feb. "(You're The) Devil In Disguise" was a no. 3 smash in mid-July. And the double-sided hit , "Bossa Nova Baby" was a no. 8 smash in early Nov., backed by/ "Witchcraft" at no. 32, also in early Nov.

Johnny Tillotson took "Out Of My Mind" to no. 24 in late March. "You Can Never Stop Me Loving You" peaked at no. 18 in late Aug. And "Talk Back Trembling Lips" was a no. 7 smash on Nov. 30th. This would be his last top 10 hit. Are you readers detecting another theme here?

Andy Williams
returned to the top 10 (since 1959) with "Can't Get Used To Losing You", a no. 2 smash in late March. "Days Of Wine And Roses" made no. 26 in mid-April, and "Hopeless" peaked at no. 13 in early July.

The team of  Mary Wells and producer/songwriter (and singer) William "Smokey" Robinson had mid-level success this year: "Laughing Boy" hit no.
