Lisa-Anne Sanderson, who has freelanced for three years as well as written reviews for Alive Magazine, will show you what you have always wanted to know about writing and submitting articles to a magazine publisher. As a capable writer and researcher, she will teach you that the process of submitting an article is as simple as 1,2,3 and 4...
Lesson one will explore what you should write about. In other words, you will learn how to find ideas and which ones are marketable. You will be educated on what an angle is and how to use it to your advantage. The text that will be used is Michael Perry's Handbook for Freelance Writing and the Complete Idiots Guide to Freelance Publishing. Lesson 2 will cover writing and submitting query letters. Query letters are used to capture the interest of the editor. Lisa will teach you what to put into your query letter so you can sell the article to the Editor of the magazine you want your article to be published in. Lesson 3 will instruct you how to research and write an outline. Lisa will help you learn the process of researching an article as well as structuring the appropriate outline for your article. The parts of the outline will be defined and you will learn how to develop them. Lesson 4 deals with the issue of writing and submitting your article. You will learn the proper format that should be followed when submitting an article - how to polish your sentences, by editing, using the right verb, sentence structure, and checking for misspelled words. As a student of this class, you will work on the content of your writing as well as developing your ideas so that the editor will want to publish your article. When you know how to edit your work, it helps fine tune your writing so the editor will accept it. During the course, Lisa will use the procedure of researching actual articles as an example. She will also supply you with links to writers markets, newsletters and writer websites. Once you learn the skills that you have been given in this course, you can reap the rewards of a fun hobby or an exciting career. Using the Internet to publish your articles is easy and convenient. Also you will save postage. There is a whole publishing community on the web.
