Fusarium wilt is actually a fungus called oxysporum.

This fungus lives in the soil indefinitely. It enters through roots that have gotten wounds or scratches from digging or from pests. Nematode outbreaks initiate the fungus outbreak more times than not. It thrives in warm temperatures.

Shoots and leaves wilt during the day but bounce back at night. Stems become white then discolor usually black or red. Leaves usually turn red or yellow when infected. The disease is most noticeable on root systems preferably the taproot.

A fungicide, organic or not, can control the fungus. Control the bad nematodes and you may not see a problem with the fusarium wilt.
