Christian Fiction Author-Marcelle Morgan Payne
On your website you say that you didn't envision yourself as a writer. What did you think you were supposed to be? I've always been creative. As a child, I wrote poetry, drew, and designed clothes, but I always saw it as something I loved, not something that I could turn into a career. Before I started writing this novel, I was planning to become a life coach. How did you become a writer? I didn't really become a writer; it has always been something I've done. Writing is as much a part of who I am as my DNA. How did God affect this decision? He told me what I needed to do and I knew I wanted to use my writing as a way of exalting Him. I was going through a difficult time and I questioned the purpose of my being and my life. It was then that God threw a lifesaver and told me to write a book. You say that God told Degrees of Grace to you. How did you know it was God? I knew it was God because I felt it in my Spirit. In that part of you, that some people call instinct or a gut feeling. This was also confirmed when I would consult with Him and ask what He wanted me to put in the book. Within minutes, He told me what to write and what He said lined up with His word. How did you build this book through his guidance? First I was obedient. He guided my fingers, my mind, and my muse. As I stated earlier, He would tell me what to write. There has never been a time while writing my debut novel or my sophomore project that I did not know what to write. I never had writer's block, a loss of inspiration or words. Tell me about DEGREES of GRACE in 3 short sentences? DEGREES of GRACE is about a passionate romance between Montana St. Claire and Garrett Rivers and the obstacles they face as lovers, Christians, and Satan's objects of desire. God shows Montana her destiny, she will lead people to walk with Him, but just as she has seen it, so has Satan. In an effort to stop her, he recruits Heather Maitland, Montana's co-worker and they viciously attack Montana and those she loves, but her resolve is stronger than he thinks and he has his work cut out for him with this degree of grace.
